CPD EXPLAINED

What Are CPD and CE Credits?

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Continuing Education (CE) credits are used by employers and organizations to confirm that professionals are completing ongoing, structured learning to stay current, competent, and compliant in their roles.

Why CPD / CE Is Required

Many companies request CPD/CE credits to:

  • Ensure staff maintain up-to-date skills

  • Support performance reviews, promotions, and compliance

  • Reduce risk and meet professional standards

  • Document continued learning, especially in evolving fields like AI

Most professionals are expected to complete 20–40 CPD hours per year, depending on their role and industry.

How CPD / CE Credits Are Assigned

CPD/CE credits are assigned based on the length, structure, learning objectives, and outcomes of a training program. Credits reflect verified learning time and professional value, not informal or self-directed consumption.

How CPD / CE Credits Are Issued

Training providers may issue CPD/CE credits only after both the program and the assigned CPD/CE hours have been reviewed and approved by ICAIC™. Once approved, providers are authorized to issue certificates reflecting the approved credit hours to learners who complete the program in accordance with ICAIC standards.

CPD / CE Recognition Through ICAIC™

CPD/CE recognition through ICAIC™ confirms that training is structured, measurable, and professionally relevant.
For AI-related learning, ICAIC™ also ensures responsible use, governance awareness, and real-world application, not just tool instruction.
